Qatar has been eliminated from the group stage of the World Cup

Qatar has officially been eliminated from the group stage of the World Cup. Qatar lost 3-1 to Senegal on Friday. After the next match between the Netherlands and Ecuador ended in a 1-1 tie, it was decided that the host Qatar would be eliminated from the tournament before one game of the group stage.

Qatar suffered its second defeat in a row. In the first match, the team was defeated by Ecuador 2-0. Qatar became the second country to be eliminated from the first round of the World Cup.

Although South Africa hosted the World Cup in 2010, the team failed to reach the second round. After drawing with Ecuador, the Netherlands missed the chance to become the first team to reach the knockout stage of the Qatar World Cup. If the Netherlands had won this match, they would have won their second match in a row and reached the last 16.

Cody Gakpo scored for the second game in a row to give the Netherlands an early lead. But in the second half, Ecuador equalized the game in the second half with Inner Valencia's goal. It is Valencia's third goal in this World Cup.
