India sensationally defeated Pakistan by four wickets in Group 1 of the Twenty20 World Cup Super 12 on Sunday. Chasing 160 runs for victory, India scored the winning run in the last ball.
Ravichandran Ashwin scored the winning run and India reached victory with the loss of 6 wickets. Virat Kohli was the hero of India's victory. Along with this, he gave a memorable victory to India which was on the verge of defeat.
Kohli scored 82 runs off 53 balls. He hit 6 fours and 4 sixes. India needed 16 runs in the last over to win. Kohli brought India back into the game by hitting consecutive sixes in the last two balls of the 19th over.
Kohli shared a partnership of 113 runs with Pandya for the fourth wicket. Pandya scored 40 runs in 37 balls. By the time India scored 10 runs, they had lost captain Rahul Sharma and KL Rahul. After winning the toss, India invited Pakistan to bat first. In that sequence, Pakistan scored 159 runs for 8 wickets.
Shan Masood scored 52 runs and Iftikhar Ahmed scored 51 runs for Pakistan who lost the opening pair of batsmen cheaply. They shared a partnership of 76 runs for the third wicket. Masood hit five fours in 42 balls while remaining not out. Ahmed hit two fours and four sixes in 34 balls. Among the Indian bowlers, Pandya took three wickets for 30 runs.
