NRB announces to issue digital currency in Nepal

The Nepal Rastra Bank is getting ready to launch its own digital currency. The NRB has decided to replace the existing physical money with a virtual version.

Deputy Governor Bam Bahadur Mishra announced the introduction of digital money during an event held in the capital on the occasion of the NRB's 67th anniversary.

There has been a lot of discussion regarding bitcoin and digital money recently throughout the world. The National Reserve Bank, which has called bitcoin unlawful, is planning to introduce its own digital money.

A concept paper is being written by a group of central bank officials from SAARC nations, according to the report.
